Riser pads are small, usually plastic rectangular pads that sit between the baseplate of your trucks and your deck. Riser pads come in various sizes and are used to increase the space between your wheels and the deck. Riser pads are sometimes necessary if you ride with your trucks very loose or if you have larger wheels, as they help prevent "wheel bite." Wheel bite occurs when the wheels dig into the underside of the deck during sharp turns, causing an unexpected and sudden stop and potentially resulting in you flying over the front.
